Punching Shear Resistance

Code basis: EN 1999-1-1:2007 bolt punching shear resistance for aluminium members.

Formula: B_p,Rd = 0.6 π d_m t_p f_u / γ_M2

d_m is the mean of across-points and across-flats dimensions of the bolt head or nut. If washers are used, the washer outer diameter is used where it is smaller.

Visible Method

Formula used: Bp,Rd = 0.6 pi dm tp fu / gamma M2.
dm is based on the mean of across-points and across-flats dimensions of the bolt head or nut.
If washers are used, dm is limited to the washer outer diameter when the washer diameter is smaller.
tp is the thickness of the plate under the bolt head or nut.
fu is the characteristic ultimate strength of the aluminium member material.
This Tool checks bolt punching only. Bearing, shear, tension, net section, block tearing, and washer local checks remain separate checks.
