Privacy Notice

Last updated: 28 July 2026

This Privacy Notice explains how VitraLab processes information when you use this website, its structural glass engineering calculators and related services. VitraLab is responsible for the information processed as described in this notice.

1. Information We Process

Calculator inputs and results are processed solely to generate the calculation or report you request.

They are not saved as project records or stored in the fair-usage database.

Some calculation results may be held temporarily in server memory for performance purposes and automatically expire within approximately one hour.

If VitraLab introduces future features allowing users to save projects, calculations or reports, this Privacy Notice will be updated before such information is collected.

To operate daily fair-usage limits, VitraLab generates a pseudonymous technical identifier derived from the public IP address associated with each request using a secure one-way HMAC cryptographic process. The raw IP address is not stored in the fair-usage database.

Our infrastructure providers may process standard technical information, including IP addresses, as necessary to deliver, secure, monitor and troubleshoot the service in accordance with their own privacy policies.

2. How We Use Information

We process information to:

  • provide the engineering calculations and reports you request;
  • protect the calculators against abuse and maintain fair service availability;
  • enforce daily usage limits;
  • maintain service security and reliability;
  • diagnose technical problems;
  • respond to enquiries; and
  • understand website usage where optional analytics have been accepted.

3. Legal Basis

Where applicable, VitraLab processes information under one or more of the following legal bases:

  • performance of a contract, or taking steps requested by you before entering into a contract, where applicable;
  • VitraLab's legitimate interests in protecting, operating and improving the security, reliability and availability of the service, including preventing abuse of free usage limits; and
  • user consent where required, including optional analytics.

4. Fair Usage Records

Fair-usage records contain only the minimum technical information necessary to enforce daily usage limits, including:

  • pseudonymous identifier;
  • calculator type;
  • usage date;
  • analysis count; and
  • report generation count.

Raw IP addresses are not stored in the fair-usage database.

Fair-usage records are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to enforce daily usage limits and are normally deleted automatically after seven (7) days.

Users sharing the same office, university, VPN, mobile carrier or other shared public internet connection may share the same daily usage allowance.

5. Cookies and Analytics

Essential cookies support website security, access controls and your privacy preferences.

Optional Google Analytics is loaded only after you explicitly consent through the website's cookie consent mechanism.

Rejecting optional analytics does not affect calculator functionality.

Your analytics preference is stored for up to 180 days and may be changed at any time through Cookie Settings.

6. Service Providers

VitraLab uses trusted third-party providers including:

  • Render for application hosting;
  • Supabase for database hosting; and
  • Google Analytics for optional analytics.

These providers process information only as necessary to provide their services.

VitraLab does not sell personal information.

7. Your Rights

Depending on applicable law, including the GDPR where applicable, you may have rights to:

  • access your personal information;
  • request correction;
  • request deletion;
  • request restriction of processing;
  • object to certain processing; and
  • withdraw analytics consent at any time.

You may also contact the relevant data protection authority if you have concerns about how your information is handled.

8. Future User Accounts

VitraLab does not currently provide public user accounts.

If account registration, saved projects or other account-based features are introduced, this Privacy Notice will be updated before additional personal information is collected.
