Why the Build-Up Matters

The selected 6 + 1.52 + 6 pane uses two annealed glass plies with a Family 1 PVB interlayer. VitraLab applies the selected wind-duration equivalent-thickness basis rather than treating the total laminated depth as one monolithic pane.

Equivalent-Thickness Output

For the selected wind condition, the run reported ω = 0.300, heq;w = 10.140 mm and equal ply stress thicknesses of 11.238 mm.

Engineering Review

Result Interpretation

The positive and negative wind cases produced equal response magnitudes with opposite signs. The governing ULS stress ratio was 0.225 and the governing SLS deflection ratio was 0.078, so both checks passed for this illustrative input set.

A project calculation still requires the actual wind actions, pane support, interlayer family, load duration, glass treatment, surface condition and serviceability requirements to be confirmed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 6 + 1.52 + 6 treated as 13.52 mm monolithic glass?

No. The laminated response uses the selected action-dependent equivalent-thickness basis rather than treating the complete build-up as one monolithic thickness.

Why do pressure and suction have equal magnitudes here?

The example uses equal positive and negative wind inputs on the same pane and support arrangement, so the calculated magnitudes match while their signs reverse.

Does this worked result validate every 6 + 1.52 + 6 pane?
