Wind Pressure and Suction

The example applies +1.2 kN/m² pressure and −1.2 kN/m² suction. Equal action magnitudes produce equal absolute stress and deflection for this symmetric monolithic pane and support condition.

ULS and SLS Separation

The ULS combination applies the design factor to the wind action and checks stress. The SLS combination retains the service wind action and checks deflection against the selected 18.462 mm limit.

The 1200 × 1800 mm pane is supported continuously on four edges. The shorter 1200 mm dimension controls the displayed span-based deflection limit.

Where should the example wind pressure come from?

Use the project design brief, applicable loading standard, National Annex or a project-specific façade wind assessment.

Why are ULS stress and SLS deflection checked separately?

ULS reviews design strength under factored actions, while SLS reviews movement under service actions and the selected deflection limit.

Does a four-edge glass result include frame flexibility?

No. The pane model uses the selected glass support condition. Supporting-frame movement and connection flexibility require separate project review.
